I don't know if any have you have done this but this morning I packed up my bike for a couple day ride and left early. There was no traffic and bike was running great. About 30 miles into the ride a get a bad feeling and just shook it off and keep riding a cople more miles pass and I get the same bad feeling as if I know something bad is going to happen. I turned around and headed home and I guess I'll take the couple of vacation days I planned and work around the house and garage. I've been riding since the late 70's and have never felt that way. Have any of you ever had that doom feeling before or during a ride and just went back home and shut it down.

I got that feeling twice ... once when I got married and once on the bike. I learned after the first time and turned around.

I've never called off an overnight or longer ride because of bad feelings. But then I don't recall ever having that kind of premonition about a ride.

I guess I have been apprehensive or a little nervous beginning a long solo bike trip but it would go away once I got out of town and that feeling of freedom took over.

Yep, been there. Found out later it was important to go with the gut feeling.

Interesting topic. . .I do two or three long rides (multi day, week) per year. I usually get the heebie jeebies a few days before I leave on one of those trips. It seems to bother me more as I get older. . .I guess the older you get, the more you've seen and you're more aware of the risks. . .whatever, I recognize it for what it is and I'm OK after I get a few miles under my belt.

It used to bother me so much that I wouldn't sleep the night before a trip. . .now I just pop one of those over-the-counter sleep aids about an hour before bed and I'm good to go the next day. . .they work amazingly good for me.
