Default Single or duel fire ignition ???

I want to upgrade my ignition on my 1996 FXDWG . Right now I have a Dyna 2000 duel fire system. Should I upgrade to a single fire ? What do I gain with a single fire unit ? I also was told to stay away from the Dyna 2000 duel fire set up (that's what I have now ) . Do I use a Crane or Dyna 2000 single fire unit !!!!!!! What feedback do you have ? Thanks !!!

The 99' sportster I had was dual (wasted spark) fire. You could experience a sharp exhaust report on startup or maybe some accelerated plug wear. I'd go with the single fire system.

Single fire means you have a firing order where as dual fire doesn't care which plug wire is were on the coil. If you drop a coil or loose the control module where is your nearest replacement? I have a few friends who run modified ignitions and when they have problems sometimes replacement parts are hard to find. How much wear is there really and what do you really gain. My 03 is single fire and my 98 is dual fire. I try to stay with OEM because replacement parts are usually easy to find. JMO.

i have dual fire on my EVO, and every once in a while i get the loud pop from the exhaust at startup. scares the beejeezus out of people standing next to the bike. doesnt bother me
happens maybe once in 50 startups.
ALL of the DIS automobiles are wasted spark systems, and they have 100k mile plug life. doesnt sound like accelerated wear to me.
