Default Gear Hauling Solution

Recently I started camping out at motorcycle rallies that I don’t have to work at. I just did Rosco’s Chilly Challenge in Lakeland, FL. Last year was cold for me and was unprepared for the 30’s @ night. I prepared for this year’s event by buying a great tent and packed up other gear.
ˇ “NEMO ASASHI 4P GARAGE” (5' Headroom & 100" X 90" W + you can walk out in place of crawl out of the tent), foot prints for both, & (2) 8’X10’ cheap tarps.
ˇ 40ş sleeping bag
ˇ Coleman Air Mattress w/electric 12V pump.
ˇ Oversized insulated blanket
ˇ Under air mattress rubber/wool (cold ground) isolation blanket
ˇ Pillow case
ˇ Piko Chair
I put all into a waterproof compression bag than inserted it into a cheap Chinese sports bag. I compressed it down with straps than secured it with one 12’ web strap. This whole package compacted down to 15” in diameter X 22” long.

I made a pillow out of a beach towel and zip out jacket liner. A carry around chair is very handy indeed.

I had previously made removable Shovelhead hard bag brackets for my FXR. I just added to them by adding a pair of outboard supports to support the gear. A modified Softail rack protects the rear fender which I leave on.

I secured the chair to the pack via tie-down straps than threw a cargo net over all just in case I needed extra storage later.

My saddle bags held all personal clothing as well as a motorcycle cover including a soft cover cooler. A very comfortable weekend.

A lot of stuff in a small package on a small bike.

I have a gear hauling solution too. Sometimes I have to haul gear for work so this is what I made up. I used my solo rack and welded 2 receiver tubes on each side. Then I made a luggage rack that slides into it when I need it. The cool thing about it is that now I can custom make any size or shape rack that I need as lung as it slides into my receiver tubes. I am working on one for a tour pack.

DCLXVI- Man, you have some kind of amazing storage there. I almost expected you to have a spare bike, like maybe a Sporty strapped down up there. Pretty cool :-)

Recommend the Thermorest Neoair mattress for warmth.

Nice job on the bags/racks.

You better get a couple of small wheels for the back of that rack. You might need them. LOL

Actually it is not so heavy. The front bag is about 60 lbs, the rear one is only 25 lbs. The front one is full of firefighting gear, the back one is my bedding. Clothes is in the right saddlebag and computer in the left. The trick is to make sure it's strapped on tight, you don't want it shifting. It is lighter than carrying a passenger.
