I've been using HD heated grips for two winters now. The first set didn't hold up but the replacement set has so far. I use the #3 setting with heavier gloves. Doesn't do much for the fingertips, but perhaps the heavy gloves actully insulate the heat from the tips.
I went so far as to buy a set of wired heated gloves but when they came, i just couldn't bear the wires and all so I sent them back.
Worst comes to worst, you can put your hand next to the rear cylinder and get it warmed up. I used to use the cruise control and alternate hands to the warmth found there.
I have been pleased with the heating performance of the grips on my 2009 Glide but the throttle side outer part slides off. Harley put silicone caulking between the inner and outer layers of the grip and it does not bond the two together. See picture. I called HD and they would not warranty. This is obviously a safety issue and I see that others have had the same problem. I am going to file a case with NHTSA as I guess that is what it takes to get HD to rectify a design issue. I would buy an aftermarket brand next time.
Bought a 5 yr warranty with my bike. Its not all threw Harley.
If my heated grips quit workin or I have any problem with them. I get a new set free.
Same thing with the HK radio , if it quits, they said they will take it out and put a new one in.
They will not send it in for repair .
I asked the dealership about heated grips when I put my bike in for the winter, said the Heat Demons were junk and the Harley ones were better, wasn't sure whether to believe the fella or not. But then again, I asked if it was even possible to have them on internerally wired handlebars, and he said oh yea it can be done, and I believe him since I've seen other sites where people have done it, yet in the book it says not compatible.
So I hope mine last, we'll see. Won't be fun if they don't since the dealership isn't really down the street from me :-\

I've had the ones on my FLHTK for a year. They work great.
