Default Heated Grips

My 2011 Limited came out of the box with heated grips. The day I left the dealer I turned them on to test them out and after 30 minutes or so they stopped feeling warm. I rode about 80 mile. I was out today and after about 50 miles they stopped feeling warm again. Is anybody else having similar issues with heated grips? Are they supposed to shut down after a set time?

Take the bike back and get them to put on a new set, the ones you have are not working. I don't know offhand who else makes heated grips, so may as well get a new set on warranty. That's my suggestion.

I've heard too many times that heated grips are nothing but trouble, especially Harley heated grips. That's why I took a pass on getting them, and recently got heated gloves.

We had our heated grips replaced/repaired 3 times already. The last fix seems to be the charm. Apparently the main issues are there are 2 different fuses that blow plus the wiring gets compromised when they're run INSIDE the handlebars. The wires were secured on the exterior of the bars and they have worked ever since.

+1 for gloves. Don't have experience with heated grips, but the gloves are really good, especially with temperature control.

I've had Harley heated grips on my '05 for six years/75,000 miles now. I am on the third set but they get used a lot and I wouldn't be without them. Heated gloves are good but heated grips are always there. When it gets suddenly colder than expected you simply turn on the grips and ahhhhhh. I have heated gloves but, that takes planning the grips, just turn 'em on.

Hubby has had two sets of heated grips on his bike ('08 EG). Once agian they don't work. It would be one thing if he used them a lot, but he doesn't.

I've had two bikes with Heat Demons and never any issues. Don't know how they work with TBW though.
