If you want a Softtail style frame it can be done.

Here is one source: http://nastybikes.com/frame_specs_sportster_buell.htm
Another: http://www.cyrilhuzeblog.com/2009/01...ortster-frame/

One caveat - most are for solid mounted engines, not the rubber mounts.

It is almost impossible to tell what will fit from the stock bike in advance. Even something advertised as "simple bolt-on" seldom is, and it's usually a trial-and-error process. Not knowing your experience level in the fabrication and general mechanic areas, only you can decide whether to go at something like this.

A friend is building a Sportster/Softail using a frame he got from
http://www.atlasprecision.com/onlinecatalog.asp

He's 73 years old and has always loved Sportsters. He built a rigid Sporty
years ago.

He took the engine in and they welded up/fabbed mounts. They made a seat pan to match the rear fender they used.
They then sent it off to Danny Gray for the seat.

No. Actually I have much to learn in life.

I just tend to call a troll out on the forum when I see one.

I didn't use a Softail frame, but took an 89 Sporty and put on a Fatbob tank, Fl front end and fenders and forward controls. It's a really nice riding bike.

If you're wondering WHY I did this, I bought the bike wrecked. It needed to be rebuilt anyway so I figured I would give it a try to see how it turned out.

Most trolls are bashing something. Looks like an innocent question to me.
