I 've been a member for 8 or 9 years now, and funny I just got my renewal notice. The only reason I paid the entry fee, was so I could join our local Hog chapter. I personally never got any use from the "info-mercial magazines" they sent me, or anything else for that matter. But this year after our Hog chapter finally closes its doors thanks to Nat Hog Rules, we are forming our own non-Hog sanctioned club, and Nat Hog won't ever see my money again. I'd rather kick the $45 over to the new club then give it away for nothing useful.,,
I'm a national member only because I get 15% insurance discount and 18% at&t wireless discount. Other than that they are worthless if you don't want to ride with a local chapter.
My gf and I are both members. We enjoy the local chapter rides and parties. If it wasn't for the local chapter we probably wouldn't keep the natl memberships current. I do kinda like the mileage pins though
I've been a solo rider all my life, except for a few years in college. I lived in a house with two other guys and we'd take off for weekenders all the time. But, now I'm nearing retirement and looking for a few others to share the fun. I joined National HOG because i wanted to look into some local chapters to see if I can find some riding buddies. I want to do some cross country rides and even considering an iron butt next spring. The discounts and benefits of HOG membership are really not a consideration for me. Not interested in any patches or pins. Just want to meet others that want to ride.

None that I know of but, what I was referring to is the dealership that sponsored our Hog group closed down in April. I bought my last bike from them in September '10. We were told we couldn't use the Hog symbols on the vest any more, and would not be recognised Hog group after December. The former owner also owns another dealership, about 15 miles from where we were, and we were told that he might be able to sponsor 2 Hog groups. Well, Nat hog said no to that plan. As a group with almost 100 members, we weren't feeling like we would be welcomed into another Hog group, except for the income it would produce for them. We are basicly orphans. The former owner attended our last meeting to say we are still welcome to spend our money at his other dealership. That was the first time he has come to a meeting to speak to the group since he bought the dealership, and it was really just a commercial. At this point I don't feel like spending squat at a Harley dealership. I'll buy online or Ebay.,,
