How many H.O.G members are out there and do you use the benefits they offer?

Not a member and I am guessing that while there are more than a few here many won't admit it. Seems like a lot of people worried about image here.

What benefits do they offer that you think are worthwhile? As a corporation I'd be surprised if you really got anything out of it that isn't directly related to marketing more stuff to you.

Every time I go to the dealer to pick up a part or specialized tool I see Hog riders in there stompin around in their pressed Levis, biker wallets, HD clothes those silly assed rags some bikers wear on their heads (worse than a mullet in my opinion) and they all seem to be just walking around aimlessly looking at the goodies on the wall.

Definitely not my kind of people but you know what? Who gives a damn, I am probably not their kind either. They look like they might be having fun but a bit uptight and I really dont know what look they are going for. Cowboy pirate maybe. I don't get the whole riding with a beverage holder and a radio etc etc. But as long as folks are enjoying themselves good on them.

I am curious as to what is the benefit of joining HOG other than opening a direct line marketing campaign and those silly *** patches.

It is odd I never see a group of Hog riders with non HOG wearing people in the group. I guess some folks just have to have a group of people with them.

this question seems to pop up every month or so.... about half of the forum members will flame the HOG members, while the HOG members will brag on the benefits.

it's what you get out of it.... for me, I save about $250 a year on my cell bill. I never rode with a chapter - didn't care for any type of group ride.

If your into ride outs, pins and patches it'll probably be your kind of thing, I don't know about the States but in the Uk you also get 10 percent off your insurance and anything you buy in the dealerships, and a yearly map book and 4 or 5 magazines, I was a member for a while but left after the dues went up,plus after going on a couple of ride outs decided it wasn't for me.

Yup. They paid the tow bill when my rear tire went flat out in the middle of nowhere. After all was said and done, I got the money I paid in dues (and then some) back.

I joined as a national member just for the discounts. Have never been a member of a local chapter though. The discount on my at&t bill is just over $200 a year so that more than pays for the membership. I won't go out of my way to find a Best Western but will stay there if it's on my route and I think the discount is 10% on that. That amounts to another 40 or 50 bucks a year at most, but it all adds up to more money for the bike upgrades.
