Default Another oil ?

This past summer I bought an 08 RKC. It had 3,400 miles on it. The person I got it from had never been on a bike or had a license when he bought it new on 2007. He changed the oil at 1,000 miles & never again. The bike was kept in an unheated garage during the winters here in ohio. I changed all the fluids on the bike when I purchased it.I put about 2,000 miles on it with no problems. Should I have any concerns about the engine & anything to keep an eye out for? This is my 3'rd Harley I had a 93 FXR & 01 FXD. When I seen this RKC I knew I had to have it. Just hope I did not screw up. Thanks for any input out there.

IF it has gone 2k miles without issues, it will continue to go many more. I change oil every 3k with the filter, trans and primary every 5k. Over kill I am sure, but when I am doing 75 down the slab, I want to know I did everything I could to keep everybody happy down there.

If we were talkin 10K miles maybe but 2400 miles is nothing. Modern oils can take much more than that unless you are running at extreme temps and raggin out the motor luggin up hills. It wouldn't be ideal but you are totally fine.

Factory maintenance schedule only requires 1k and 5k interval oil changes for the engine, 1k and 10k intervals for the primary, and 1k and 20k intervals for the transmission.

You are more than ok sticking to this and your bike will be ok if it went over by a couple hundred miles give or take.

I was just reading an article on a fellow who was having his engine rebuilt at 100,000 miles. He has never changed oil only added as necessary. I wouldn't follow his lead but these new engines are durable and will last a long time if not abused. If we let oil sit through the winter in an unheated garage the engine will not self destruct. Ride and enjoy you new motorcycle.

Jack, your sitting on a time bomb. You would probably be better off selling the bike at a huge discount to "me". If not, I would say to you as they do in Canada, "no worries, eh".

You will be fine, I know we are talking apples and oranges, but the oil change schedule on my new Audi is 5000 miles and then every 10,000 miles after that. They do use synthetic.

You'll be fine. I have started, at the 5k service, to change all three holes. I will continue to do that every 5k miles from now on. Cheap insurance.
