As to spending big bucks for large mods, I don't know who I would trust to do the job. I like tinkering with the bike, doing all my "small" add-ons by myself. At least I know that all of the nuts & bolts will get put on, locktited, and fastened properly. Beyond that I will take the bike back to the dealer for lack of TRUST elsewhere!
As far as engine mods goes, their is a definite line between done properly and butchered! I feel that a lot of the successful jobs get done by the owners themselves! These owner/mechanics give the job their full attention to all aspects of the mods, big and small. Of course there are a lot of "self proclaimed" owner/mechanics out there that get in way over their heads and end up with nothing but a pile of headaches.
Your first problem right now is to recognize that taking the bike back to the same shop that butchered it the first time around is a waste of time, money, and effort to fix the bike! I WOULD CUT TIES TO THE SHOP, FILE A SMALL CLAIMS SUIT AND MOVE ON! An even bigger problem will be finding a shop willing to take the bike in, go over it from top to bottom and be willing to quote you a price to "fix" it. I'm not trying to sound callus but GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!
Just one more reason i do nto use Indy shops, I hope this all gets worked out for you and like was said you might try small claims corte, but I don't know is that will work?
Unfortunately indy's can be bad or good. I happen to have a fantastic indy and would never let a dealer touch my bike unless it was an emergency. If you go the indy route, get some references.
Wow is about all I can say on the work done, I really feel sorry for you! I would def. take the shop owner to small claims court and recover back some money. In the state of Florida the max you can sue for is $5,000 but at least if you prove your case well enough you will get back a good chunk of money back. Good luck!
This is why lawyers are wealthy. Sue these *uckers for every dime, Poor workmanship, deception, I sure more charges apply. Good Luck and make sure everyone you know hears this story... that hits them where it hurts.
The urge to hurt someone would have started right at the washers on the axle. Jeezus, even kids in freshman shop class know better than that. They never would have gotten near my bike with a 107" kit, welder, or especially a NoS system. Sounds like you should have let it finish burning. What a mess. Sorry.
