Default Winter Riding?

Just curious as to how many people here wear heated clothing when riding and if you wear heated gear what do you wear on top of it or under it?

Same for me. If I were home more I would buy the heated gear. I'm on the road most of the year so don't get to ride enough to justify the expense. Although when I'm riding in 20 degrees I think I should go ahead and get it but after I get indoors and warm up I talk myself out of it.

For me, my core has always been easy to keep warm but my extremities are more of a challenge.

So I'm big into heated grips or gloves and heated socks. After riding thru some freezing fog causing rime ice on my fog free visor I now also use a heated Scorpion visor.

Good luck and have fun, Mark H.

I just moments ago wired up the bike for the heated gear. Then set the jacket liner up and the gloves. I will test it tomorrow, too many chores ahead today to test it.
But, I am noticing there is a helluva lot of excess wire hanging off of me. I would like to know what some people do to manage all the extra length. So far I am using twist ties to keep the wires bundled together. Gloves, controller and jacket liner under the leather jacket is how I am rigged. Lots of wires.

Default Gerbings Is Your Friend!

I wear a Gerbings heated jacket liner under a fleece lined nylon wind breaker semi-winter jacket and the Gerbings heated gloves. During the winter I wear a good pair of real winter wool socks. DON'T BE CHEAP WITH THE SOCKS! I usually crank the gloves up full but NEVER turn up the liner more than a third/half. So far I've been able to ride thru the 20's, no biggie.

As for wiring, I hardwired directly to the battery, used a nylon tie to bundle the extra length of wire under the seat and drilled a hole into my crotch cooler and mounted a hardwire power outlet in it! No loose or hanging wires to flop around and look unsitely.

Default Heated Gear

I have the gloves and the jacket liner and have not been cold since. I was out in the middle of no where freezing my butt off, layered up so I could hardly move. That's when I decided to buy Gerbings gloves and jacket liner. I wear a silk L/S undershirt under the liner, a Harley neoprene jacket on top, and a pair of silk long underwear bottoms under the jeans and chaps with heavy socks.
As far as extra length on the wires, I made a Velcro strap to go around my thigh to hold the controller. It takes the excess wire out of play and also makes it easier to adjust the temps.
Asked the wife for a pair of Duluth Trading Co Whaleback pants for Christmas.

I'll report on those as soon as I have tried them out.

No heated gear for me. I wear a Tourmaster Transitions jacket, Tourmaster Overpants, Tour Master Polar-Tex Gloves, and riding boots. Been riding a 20 - 25 min. commute to work in 24 - 26 degree weather with no problems.

Well I see there is really no need to buy expensive gear when I don't really need to...
