It's a motorcycle. Drive it in the shine but do not worry about it if it rains or get's dirty. Use it. If you want a show boat before long you will be worrying about dew on it and such. Have friends that are a slave to the bike. Mine's a slave to me. Clean it up twice a year if it want's it or not (did it for my signature..HA). If you use it, its going to pit. Put new risers on it to mount my tac. (Harley in their ($) wisdom made the tack risers with 1/8 wider bolt spacing) couple years ago and the are already pitted. Your pits probably had nothing to do with beach. Your new chrome if you do it especially if it's over al. will pit no matter what you do.
