I woulda picked the Softail, but they don't make forward controls that mount on the front axle....

Depending on how tall you are you may want to consider the seat height between the two. I don't mind that its heavy but the fact that the ***** of my feet are just touching the ground can make for some un-nerving situations. I found that the Road King Classic is a hair taller then my standard.
I was going to say the same thing. I've ridden both and I must say that the Heritage gets my vote. I've got a 30 inseam and I didn't feel as comfortable on the road king. The heritage gets my vote due to the comfort level with my feet being firmly planted on the ground while sitting in traffic and that seat is very comfy. I felt that the Heritage was slightly quicker than the RK. I also thought that the Heritage was move manauverable at slower speeds than the RK. I orgionally wanted a RK myself but after Precision put on a demo day and having ridden both of them on back roads and highway my vote is Heritage all the way. That will be my next bike. Also it depends on why kind of riding you do also. If you can take both of them out for a test ride.

Picked the RK - I just don't care for the looks of Softails. Now if you had a Switchback as a choice...

You could go either way and be very happy.

Hertiage is a touring bike, but with a softail rear end. It's an "FL"....ST.

The Road King has dual front discs, and the rear suspension on the Road King is more plush for HEAVY touring...but again either one will do.

If it were up to me, I'd get the Road King....but I may be talked out of it!

P.S. The Heritage needs an engine guard for highway pegs!

Dual discs, better for two-up, smoother ride, smoother drivetrain, better cornering clearance (last I heard/checked), RK all the way for me.

No brainer for me. I HATE the B motor. I love softails but I hate that motor and will not own one because of it (unless it was a CVO, I might be able to get past it then . They rev slower and buzz like hell at highway speeds...

I own a Heritage and plan on a second bike in the next couple years (probably a Road Glide Custom) just because I would like to have a touring bike as well. That being said, if I had to own only one bike that could do everything well, it would be an RK Standard.
