Before last summer I was riding a metric. I had a Memphis Shade fairing with a radio system. I enjoyed riding with the tunes. Finally decided to get a Harley and am very happy with my RKC choice. The only thing is that I miss riding with the tunes. I started looking at the windshield mounted radios, but I'm not sure I like how they look. But if it sounds good, maybe it will work out. Wondering if anyone has one of these and if so, how do you like it.
I would love to get a fairing, but it's almost triple the cost of the windshield radio.
I had one on my king up until last month. I changed my bars and unfortunately the radio wouldn't work with the new bars. Mine had a CD player/MP3 capable/AM-FM stereo and i really did like it, i just had to go another route. Here's a couple pics of it on my king, i bought it on ebay and the total cost was 300 bux which isn't bad compared to other comparable shield stereo's.
I have the hog tunes that go with my memphis shades batwing fairing and I am very pleased with the system. It works with my Ipod touch. My passenger has no trouble hearing the music.
Check out the J&M MHAS 2008 self powered speakers. With an MP3 player loaded with your favorite songs, you can't go wrong. I had a set on my Heritage and they great. 100% water proof and very powerful. there are several reviews you can search for...
my wife was using the harley boom audio windshield mount and was happy with it. at 75 or 80 mph, depending on your windshield (my wife used the small) the windnoise does tend to drown out the music, can still hear it, just not as clear as you would like.
not using it now, as we traded in her road king and bought a road glide. still have the system, will sell it for $200 + shipping.
not trying to spam, just haven't gotten around to listing it in the classifieds yet.
