Have the hd cooler and couldn't be happier. Glad it is low profile and keeps the bike out of the eitms mode when riding. That is about all I have asked it to do.

You might want to look at an earlier Harley Davidson oil cooler kit, I got a discontinued Harley Davidson oil cooler kit that was made by Jagg, brand new for $150 off of eBay (https://www.hdforums.com/forum/showt...eferrerid=9012).

Jagg has two adapters for their oil coolers. One with a thermostat and one without. Their website says they will sell you the adapter with the thermostat if you want it but they say you don't need it. Check their FAQ or call them to check it out. Do Harley's run cold very often? I live in the PNW and just finished a ride of 35 miles in about 38 degrees. Oil was 190 when I got home. Don't bother with the thermostat unless you live in Alaska or Minnesota and ride all year. I believe what the manufacturer says about their product and saved the money. Jagg has also just recently come out with fan assisted coolers for the touring bikes but Dyna and Softail versions will be out soon.

IMO.....Jag offers the best cooler hands down. There are plenty of articles on this subject with comparisons of the individual units and their actual effects on the bikes.

Jag!

I watch Motorweek on the local PBS channel. Last show had Goss's Garage with a Harley dealer talking about oil coolers. This guy said the thermostat was important so that the oil would warm up enough to get rid of moisture in the oil. He also spoke about oil being a coolant as well as lubricating. Just passing this on- I'm no expert on this.

I'm sure the jagg is a fine oil cooler, but I think it' s a bit overkill. I've had the HD premium filter on for two years and beenb through stop n go rush hour traffic in 95-100 degree temps with no problem. No regrets,
They both do their job.

I am partial to Jagg, as I have installed a few and always seemed to have good results..however, I'm sure HD's cooler are okay too...As to which one will give you better oil cooling, I will lean towards the Jagg...Jagg is a 10 row and I believe HD's is 8...it's your choice as to which you think will serve your purposes best.
