Had a customer who called us with a brand new paint job on his hard bags on a bike he had had for 2 months. They were stolen. He saw them on eBay. He made sure he was the high bidder, called the cops, arranged to pick up the bags with the key and the cops. Busted!

Always thought of bolting my 04 RKC leather bags down too, but never seemed to get it done and haven't been a victim of theft.. Now that I own a new SG, I'm headed out to the garage now to get-r-done. Sorry for your loss on the bags, but thanks for the post.

Thumbs up

Everytime I visit this forum it cost me.
Never thought much about this, but it makes sense. With all the good reviews I figured I better get a set. Just ordered saddlebag secure for the Harley. http://brukus.com/cgi-bin/p/awtp-pro...rts&item=35502

I just took the little lock pin mechanism off and replaced it with a lock nut and bolt.

Great idea! That way the thieves can steal the holster too.

Not the first time we have heard that the SaddlebagSecure solves a rattle problem...

"I received my SaddlebagSecure for Harley Touring Bikes on Saturday Jan
21. I installed it on my 2008 UltraClassic this afternoon (Jan 23).
The installation was quick and easy. I am very pleased with your
product. It also has solved a saddlebag rattle problem that I have had
with this motorcycle."

Haven't really heard of this being prevalent in my area, but you know how that goes, that can change real quick. Sorry to hear about your buddies, that sucks.

And they didn't just wander up, cross their fingers and steal five sets of bags. I would guess that they had eyes on those guys from the time they dropped the kickstands on their scoots. Some dirtbag follows them in, gets on his cell phone and plays lookout....

Etching identifying markings on the bag won't help unless you want to purchase every pair of bags on eBay and resell all the ones without your signature on them.... of course, then you are a 'fence'! haha.

It'd be nice if MoCo would etch the VIN into each bag... sure, folks have reasons for numbers not to match but better than nothing for stock bags....
