Until this post I never heard of cases being stolen. Makes sense though with the speaker mount cases now.
I know my gas cap key fits all Harleys. I always thought the side cases were all keyed alike also. Would't thieves just have a HD key, so locking lids would not work.

Also if I had the locking device I WOULD NOT LOCK the lids. The thieves are going to damage them prying them open. Maybe if they are unlocked, and they open them normally, see the locks, they might just walk away.

I think I will look at the locking systems posted here.

Way back when that's the way they did it. Had a couple of spring clips inside the bags but I guess that's old technology.......

I guess that's a solution if you don't actually carry anything in them.
I always have rain gear, tools, small compressor, etc. - all of which I don't want to give away. Nevermind making an insurance claim after you've not taken the means to prevent the loss.

I've had the Brukus saddlebag kit on my last 2 scoots. Yeah, you can buy the hardware yourself at Ace. But, I like supporting a small business that markets an inexpensive kit like they do.
Just to be clear, the kit uses bolts, not locks, to secure the bags. The bolt heads are known as Security Torx, Tamper-Resistant Torx (often shortened to Torx TR) or pin-in-Torx. They contain a post in the center of the head that prevents a standard Torx driver (or a straight screwdriver) from being inserted.

I spent about 5 bucks at the hardware store and bolted mine on.

Easy.

I prefer the full holster built into the vest. I would not like showing up to a gun fight with the advertisement of an empty holster. I like the idea of a holster mounted to the bike with easy access. Shame that I can't carry open and just put that pistol in my vest when I park the bike.

Go to YouTube and look up the videos. You do not need to get into the bag to remove the bags when they are just secured by the OEM parts. You can also open a locked bag with a big screwdriver. A locking system just slows down the thief, but probably enough so he'll just move on to the next bike.
