Was working in the back yard in May last year when I threw a heavy item over the 4 ft fence. Had a huge pop sound and a ton of pain in the right arm. Tried to be a normal guy, just ignore it and it will go away. Rode all summer, put the scoot in the garage then talked to the Doctor. Found I ripped the Bicep muscle completely off the bone and tore 7 other muscles and/or tendons. Had the surgery a couple weeks ago since it is not bike weather in Minnesota and will be healed up by the time the weather is good. Went out this evening to start the scoot and let it run for a while, sure am missing it but I will be ready for another year and our rooms are already booked in August, Love the Black Hills and the Badlands...
Most ortho's will tell ya shoulder's are the worst.. or at least among the worst. I was working one of the most kick *** patrol trained German Shepherds ever.. 120 pounds of eastern bloc "I wanna eat you".. We were doing long sends.. going great until on the last exercise the dog missed high.. caught the shoulder of the suit and down we went.. my weight and the dogs all on my left shoulder. Reconstruction surgery and 4 months of of rehab and it's back to 90 percent or so.. yep, shoulders are not fun.. lol
I had my right shoulder rebuilt almost 5 years ago & it's good as new. Last April 1st I had my left done. Like you, I had tore my bicep loose & was one of the worst looking shoulders my surgeon has ever seen. I was a miserable sob for the first 5 or 6 weeks.
I was off work for a total of 6 months returning to work Oct. 3rd. The first week or so it hurt like a sob but after that everything has been good. I will say it's not as strong as before but it's coming back.
Your surgery was timed perfect though, I lost half of my riding season..... Good luck on the recovery.

I feel your pain. I'm almost 5 weeks since my knee surgery. I slipped on paper covering stairs and went down hard. I slid down a whole flight with my left leg bent back under me. I ruptured my quadricep and tore tendons. My muscle retracted up my thigh. I got another week or so, and then about 4-6 months of physical therapy. I guess I timed it right though. Should be able to ride by mid march or April. Good luck with your recovery and hopefully you'll be riding soon.
