I am by no means trying to talk you out of armor...
But, the Dragon isn't all that bad IF you ride well within your limits and scan far enough down/up the road and into switchbacks that you don't box yourself into a bad situation.
If you're wanting to push to the edge of your envelope, then I guess armor is a good thing to have. If you're considering body armor, you might want to get a full face helmet as well.
Don't know when you are going, but, temps and humidity can easily exceed 90'/90% on summer days.
I've never contemplated wearing armor in the mountains. But, then I've got a built in sloooooow speed governor on my scoot, she is seated right behind me!
