Very good thing to do for the old guy. I'm a firm believer in good coming to those who do good. Something great will come your way.
I had pretty much the opposite happen back in the 80s. I had a Honda CB750K for sale. I got a call asking me to bring it to the buyer to look at. Odd, but a good excuse for a ride. I got to the house and an older women met me at the door. Her husband was in the late stages of cancer and didn't have long. He wanted to die owning a bike so they bought mine. Made them a good deal on it too. Put it on the front porch where he could see it from his bed. Now that was a wife.

I waited and thought about this before jumping in. I would divorce the wife and write the daughter out of my will. Even if I can't ride over physical disability. If I have the mental capacity to discuss not selling my bike that means I am still mentally capable of decision making. Even at that age I will not put up with crap.

OAB you don't know all the details. Maybe they love him and know that he is a danger to himself and others. Does the OP know why they wanted him to stop riding?
