I would guess the $6 service fee is to cover some of the 3% fee that credit card companies charge when you use Visa or Mastercard.
Sucks, been buying stuff and making payments online for years and never had that until I financed my bike through harley, which is actually Chase bank, and that explains it all.
I got them back though, I paid it off in 4 months using my Visa and they had to pay 3% of that to Visa.
Exactly....all of these whiners who want stuff for free are now dropping the "greed card" .
You seem to be very hung up on people wanting stuff for "free".... My Loan is not "Free" was yours? There is an Interest charge and as I recall and an administrative or setup charge. And corporate greed is a fact of Capitalism, 6 bucks a month from several thousand loan holders is a Tidy Sun.
Yes they have the "right" to change the terms.... that's because they have the pencil that wrote the contract. And that does not mean anyone has to fully agree.
Pay by check like you said. Let them have the inconvience of dealing with it. Just make sure you mail them in time to post by the payment date. May even be worth the 50 cents to get delivery confirmation on your payments so they can't say "we didn't get it in time" and hit you with a late fee.

Well I could see getting rid of the loan by using a VISA if the payout was small enough, or you got a very low Promotional Interest rate for a year.... but using a CC for a monthly payment is like borrowing from Peter to Pay Paul....

What you have to understand is that "no it isn't right", "yes they can and will do it" and you have to live with it or don't use credit, or you can bitch about it and hope you get enough people to do so, so that they change their minds. The other thing you have to understand is that KBFXDLI is pretty much an asshat and nothing you say or do is going to change that. OOPS, Me bad. I understand where you are coming from, fortunately when things like this have happened to me I have found ways to rid myself of the problem. Hope it works out for you.

Well for the Thousand and change that I owe them, I might take advantage of one of those 1.99% short term Interest offers I keep getting mailed and pay it off, and send a polite note that I will not finance my next bike through HDFS.
