Default I About Died...

Been cleaning my bike, had the front spark wire off.... Came home today and my son had started the bike to show his buddies how it sounded.... He had the bike running about 5 minutes on one cylinder.... Reconnected and ran it awhile and everything sounds ok.... Think I have anything to worry about?

nope, if it started back up on both cylinders and runs, you'll be fine.

Seems to be running fine! He knows bikes but didn't know I had parts off the bike doing my winter cleaning. I knew it the minute I walked in and he told me what he did, plus I could smell how rich it had been running in the garage. I wasn't happy to say the least.

Don't think it'll hurt anything. By you hooking the plug wire back and ran it for a while, any unburn fuel, which should evaporate off anyway, will be clear from the cylinder.

During the 5 min ran on one cylinder, fuel might get loaded up in the front cylinder. I theory it might "wash" off cylinder oil film. But with today's oil technology, it'll take a lot longer than 5 mins to do damage, if any.

I'm in Indiana as well, if it's not too cold, you can always just ride it some, that will clear the spark plug as well. Worst case, take the plugs out and compare the 2, maybe replace the front plug due to minor fouling.

That was going to be my answer. Your bike will be fine, but do you really want your kid starting it and letting it idle away just heating up?

Not to mention leaving the scoot so your kid (or anyone) could start it up and maybe end up dumping the bike on themselves....

Uh, no.... And he heard about it.... A case of trying to impress his buddies I think. I want him to get involved in bikes, but there is a limit I told him. He is almost 20, and no, no one else except him and my wife know where the keys are.

Change the oil. The cylinder would have washed down and because it was cold the rings wouldn't be sealed to the cylinder causing blow-by. Not that it's a huge deal but it is cheap insurance and peace of mind
