Why Choose Harley-Davidson?

In a few days I will order my first Harley-Davidson ever, a Sportster 883R (still don't know if black or pewter pearl. I will go to see both colours tomorrow and wil take 1 or 2 days to decide). When I saw this bike I really felt in love, and decided for this model.
Because I know I am going to buy a mith, a legend, something special and not just a bike, I want to ask you "Why you choose an Harley-Davidson?".

I am italian, and even if we love Harleys probably we don't capture the real essence of the brand.

So give me your ideas, your suggestions, your thinks about these bikies and about the brand. I really want to understand why Harley-Davidson is the most popular and famous brand in the world!!

I bought HD because this is truly the one you can make your own and it's fun. I've had all kinds of bikes (metrics) and they were alright but the aftermarket capabilities just isn't the same. Another reason is because after my test ride, I loved how the bike handled, I felt right at home.

There's an old worn saying in the Harley relm that you will hear more than once (if you haven't heard it already) and that is: "If I have to explain it to you, you wouldn't understand". I think that perhaps answers your question best.
