Sportsmans Guide on the net has them for a low price of $79. They offer a couple of types. Mine have the strech panel so they are comfortable to wear and go on eaisly. Always wear them to give some protection in the event of that slide down the interstate.
After the way sportsman's guide treated me this year, I would advise anyone not to deal with them. Long story short, they took my cash, lied to me twice about my order, ignored me once and required both Visa and Amazon.com get involved to refund my money.
When I ride when it's cold, I wear my ski thermals. They are good thermals that keep me warm when outside and don't overheat me inside. They are also an extra layer off protection and cover all parts of your body. They keep your whole body warm, particularly those sensitive parts right in the winds path. Buddy of mine wears leather pants with thermals. I think leather pants with thermals or good thick denim with thermals are both better choices than chaps. Both give you full body protection and warmth. Seems like Chaps are traditional biker and people just go that way.
Heck people can't even tell you're wearin them under jeans...

Cotton long underwear, may provide a little abrasion resistance but I wouldn't think much. Also remember that cotton provides almost no insulation when wet so a soaking rain will leave you shivering in the wind.
My experience in the mountains tells me that poly thermals of any weight will provide no abrasion protection beyond a light brush and they have a very low melt point (I've picked melted plastic out of body hair one too many times), but will keep you warm even when soaking wet.
The good stuff is expensive and can be a bit delicate but lasts a long time and will keep you warm no matter what.
i don't care what you call me as long as im protected. besides, i've been called MUCH worse than cupcake. i'm also lookin for some good chaps under $100.
I live about 40 miles from Hudson Leather and they have nice stuff and will take good care of you. Their chaps are $99 and up when not on sale. The $99 ones are what the wife and I are panning on getting shortly!
Well, cupcake is better than FRUITCAKE....Andmost chicks dig guys wearing them. Dont know what brand I have, bought them at a rally in New Mexico a couple of years back...generally only wear them when temp is below 60.
I would highly recommend Fox Creek for chaps, they might have some samples for around $130, but their regular chaps are around $180. They are much higher quality than HDs though and are worth that. Check them out though because when I ordered mine they had a few of the $130's left and they are worth every penny of that and more.
