Brought the scoot in to the dealer for the service.I'm usin the synthetic oil.I can't find too much info online, but I thought the syn oil was good for 5000 mi. I know mobil and amsoil are superior but the dealer has HD syn.I figure it's better than reg.from what I've read. But is 5000miles what harley oil is good for?[sm=biker.gif]
SYN3 is good oil , it will last 5000 miles and I use it myself however after finding out HD oil is made by citgo
I will not use this product any more cant support Hugo Chavas and any American bashing commy bastards.

I personally change the oil every 2500 miles. Did the 1000 mile service, changed the oil again around 2800 and then again at 5000. Keep in mind that the bike was put up last year at the 2800 mile mark. It now has 6300 miles on it. Since I am putting the 95 big bore in the bike this winter, I will change it once it hits 7300 miles, allowing for break in. I will then change it again at the 10,000 mile service.
Been readin the manual, and if I do an in-between service oil change(before5000)I'm thinking I gotta be brain dead if I can't do it myself.Although some of these $39.95 specials are run occasionally by my local dealer.
I've been using Syn 3 since 1k check and have been doing my own changes every 3k but next time I'm gonna start using Mobil 1 (20w50) for crank and tranny (75w90) and keep using formula plus for primary.
I change my oil every 1500 miles & do the trans & primary every 3000. I use 20-50 Amsoil in all three spots. I use the K&N oil filter because it is a quality filter & easy to take off. I enjoy taking care of my bike so it isn't a hassle for me.

To keep your warranty you need to do the scheduled maintenance. Yes synthetic oil will go 5000 miles. There are other things that need attention as the mileage goes up.
The 1000 is special because they check the torque on everything.
You can buy the manual, torque wrench, cable lube clamp, and do the service yourself.
You just need to keep receipts for your fluids and filters. Keep a log of what you did for each service.
