Thanks, man. I think part of my problem on this is that my wife too is a saint and she has not said anything. But I personally feel a little "I told you so" coming in even if she's not thinking it. She didn't want me to buy a bike in the first place, 11 year old son, she knows all these dead and wounded bikers, etc. Now I have 18k of dead weight in the garage and another 150 mile trip to town to fix it. The more I think about it, the funnier it is. Venting here has helped. Thanks again.
If you can say "The more I think about it, the funnier it is." - you are well on the way to recovery. Sometimes venting is good. Another word of advice from an old fart - If the wife did not actually say "I told you so", then do not assume she is thinking it. She probably understands your frustration and is just giving you a little space. Thank her for her patience and understanding. You will be rewarded - trust me on this.

Hey--Does the Colt shoot? That's all that matters. I have a High-Point .380 for concealed carry, which is the firearm equivalent of a Yugo, but it shoots & that's all that's important. To dump a bike 'cause of a dead battery is really silly--Hell, I just had to have the cases split & resealed on a RoadKing with only 5K miles on it. But it's fixed now, & I love the hell outta the biotch. Get a new battery, &try to enjoy that drive into town for it. And then the ride after you get that battery installed.
BTW if the light never went to steady green, there's a bad connection somewhere, or a blown fuse in the pigtail.
That's exactly where I thought the story was going.
Here is a true story along those lines: When I was a little kid I shot, several times, the tail gate on an old Ford Pick Up at the dump with a Colt SAA in 38-40. The bullets did not penetrate the first layer of steel. Good dents, but that's about it. The 38-40 pistol (not rifle) round is somewhat anemic, but I'm not so sure you could do that today with today's trucks. Probably breeze on through like a hot knife through butter, and on into the cab.
I doubt that anyone on this forum has experienced your level of frustration. Yeah right. But, for the majority of us, we know that problems like you are having are irritating, but not devastating.
You bought the gun. If you didn't do a better job of looking it over, or knowing what you were buying, that's your problem.
Guns haven't been sold mailorder since 1968, so you had to have bought it in a face to face transaction. You should have looked it over better. I agree with that. I've had many firearms, and frankly, $1,300 is not that much to pay for a pistol to expect perfection.
If you want perfection in a .45 SA go to www.freedomarms.com. But don't whine about the price.

I have a couple of colts and one Harley not a ounce of trouble out of either of them. Take a deep breath so body needs to take some anger managment therapy. Also 1500 miles for a whole summer. I got my harely in Decemember and ridden it in 30 degree weather and put 2500 miles on it in 3 weeks. Sounds like some spoiled little rich kid that not getting his way on the playground.
