How thick it is isn't gonna make a difference in temp sorry your mechanic is still a bit green and too thick an oil is not good at low temps for twinkies . Evo & later engines are designed to use multi's dino or syn & stay with 20-50 unless you live out in 130 deg desert somewhere . You want to cool the oil only way is add an cooler and more oil volume with longer lines to radiate heat out as it passes through , your oil filter kinda does that for you now .

Stick with the synthetic multi viscosity oil. Straight 50 or 60 are too heavy to completely lubricate the tight spots in your motor.

I would use 20w50, or 50WT or 60WT, any synthetic or Dino oil would work the best. Be sure to change it annually or once a year, whichever comes first.. You can do a search and read the 1,000's of posts on this subject already done.

I'm a dinosaur when it comes to the bike , oil gets changed at 2000 max on mine sometimes less . Not saying it's good or or bad but I've been getting a lot more life outa my old shovel engines than most believe you can so I'll stick with the habit , oil changes are cheaper than rebuilds .

Makes a big diff on what bike U have....older bikes did use the straight oils.

In my 96TC I use Mobil 1 V-twin 20-50 yr round.
