sittin here looking out the window and it snowin and blowin. its been a long time since i rode my new road king that i ordered last year. it sits in the garage under sheets with only 500 miles on her. its been a mild winter and had some nice days but chose not to ride due to salt dust. i just could not find myself runnin this through the salt then having to try to clean it,its not worth it. i keep telling myself that a few more weeks the weather should start to come around. spring is about three weeks away.
Hate to say it, but there's more to life than riding...quit moping & get creative. Read a book (service manual), go to college, do some indoor projects, socialize w/friends, play a "board" game...etc. You get the point - just sitting & moping only makes it drag on. BTW - I'm originally from MN & was stationed in ND so I know what long/cold winters feel like...
I feel your pain. We don't have snow, heck, I haven't even uncovered the snowmobiles this winter. I have been wanting to ride to work some but it has been one cold, dreary morning after another. I have gotten in a couple of short rides but I avoid the salt and icy patches like the plague. Oh well, spring is almost here and not long after we will be bitchin' about the heat of summer.
Go out to the garage every day, pat your girl on the *** (seat) and say "Baby, I'll be riding you soon"...wait, we're talking a Softail here, right? :-)
Soon enough you'll be riding again, just have a little patience.
I know how it is! It's ok though. I've done a lot of reading here to familiarize myself with my bike this winter so it was time well served. Won't be long now before some serious miles get put on her again!

Engraved Rebellion: Inside Bundnerbike's Glam Rock II
After I put the snowblower away this morning, I pulled the cover off the bike and just sat on it for a while. I have to admit its tough daydreaming about riding while watching the snow blowing around, but I know that snow will be gone soon enough. I then covered the bike back up and went out for a long walk in the woods. At least it was nice to have my nose in the wind. So hang in there and at least get outside.
