2005 Elect. Gl. Classic Radio Mistery
Yesterday I removed the front fairing back out, pulled the radio harness plug out, all the pins in the radio unit looked OK, checked the two fuses, both were OK, tested the radio harness plug, and two of the wires on it are hot, so I don't have another clue on this mistery.
It sucks to have to ride all the way to Fla. in a couple of weeks with nothing to listen to.
I would double check all the pin positions using the wiring diagram in the manual.
It's easy to get stuff switched if you're looking at the connector from the top in the diagram and from the bottom when you are putting it together.

Everything else on the bike such as the headlight-both high and low beam, passing lamps, blinkers, tour-pack side lights, horn, dash lights, all of this works, and the bike starts right up and runs great. Not only did the last writer-FLAMED FXR, but several others also said it sound like a bad ground. I checked all the fuses-all were good, I did not run the wires inside the handle bars, I left them out like it was with the stock bars, checked all the wires under the fairing, nothing is burned or grouded to a bracket or anything else. So I did what the last writer said, ran a test wire from the frame near the crash-bar to the body-casing of the radio unit itself, turned the ign. switch on, and guess what, THE CLOCK LIT UP, TURNED ON THE RADIO AND IT WORKED!, EVEN THE CD WORKED! Mistery solved, BAD GROUND.
Now comes the big question: Should I go through the trouble of removing the unit all over again to try to find where I missed the ground wire at, or should I leave it in and run me a new ground wire from the frame to the radio casing? Thanks to everyone for helping me solve this issue.

Left work at 2:10PM, rode from North Atlanta all the way to West Ga.(Polk Co.) where the Indy Shop is located, arrived there just before 3:30PM, the mechanic had just finished doing some work on a DYNA, came to my bike, took the front fairing out, got to looking at all the maze of harnesses and other wires, and within seconds spotted the problem: The ground wire coming from the triple tree was disconnected, he showed it to me, he then plugged it in, turned the ign. switch on, and sure enough the clock was on, the radio and the CD both worked, problem solved! He then put the fairing back on, and we talked for a few min., then I asked the man what I owed him, and he said your a regular customer, so don't worry about it, this is a very decent and well respected Indy Shop.
Finally, I left there and rode home to Douglasville, Ga. and listened to my favorite stations in the area all the way! End of story.
