What can I safely use to clean all the nooks and crannies under my bike which seem to collect all the road grime? I'd prefer a spray on, scrub off or rinse off product, and have been told NOT to use Simple Green (it will eventually harm the paint).
1st off...its not paint its powdercoating on the frame.
2nd ive found simple green works better diluted[always leaves a film otherwise]
but, i usually use windex multi-task on everything
Go to the do it yourself car wash and the wand will clean it off. Just be careful around electrical and wheel bearings and it gets all the nooks and cranies.
My wife discovered my main road grime getter at a local Dollar Tree store...............it is called Awesome....looks like a bottle of pizz but it works great.
I don't let it get on the paint any more than I have to but I spray it on engine and components, undercarriage, wheels etc etc......even use a sponge soaked in it to get the bugs off the windsheild........grime/bugs/junk literally washses off after letting it soak for a min or two.
I found one of those "as seen on TV" steam cleaners at Penneys for $40.00. It works great for all the hard to reach places on the bike. The road scum on the underside just melts off. As mentioned above, I stay away from the bearings and wires.

I use cheap Brake Cleaner. It does not remove any of the paint, but it damn sure cleans every nook and cranny and makes it spotless. After it's clean, I'll go back and spray it down with some diluted Windex and it's done.
