And what makes you think a Rolex is the best engineered watch out there? They are far from that actually! My dad gave me his first Rolex watch and bought a Breightling a few years ago. Why you might ask? Because the Rolex wasn't as accurate when it came to keeping time!

(Ironically, my mom wears a Breitling now too, those are some sweet watches!)

Actually I think the best comparison would be cars. Metric bikes are much like Honda cars, well made, dependable, and oftentimes fast vehicles. Harley's are more like Cadillacs (or possibly a German car, BMW or Mercedes): fit and finish are second to none, still very dependable, might not be the fastest thing out there, but contain more of a 'status' (for lack of a better term), and is more likely to be something that will be held onto for a long time.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and choice of ride. I have ridden several metric cruisers (and a few sportbikes), and they aren't bad, but didn't give me that "feeling" like when I hop on my Harley, and that is worth the extra few grand to me personally.....

maybe `cause they arn`t trying to compensate for something else they are lacking?

Most people (including most people here) are generally nice people. But this internet forum has got to have THE MOST insecure, image conscious people I have ever seen in one place at one time. A few bad apples spoil the bunch and whatnot... Its like a Harley can turn grown men into 14 year old girls or something.

Yep. love my Harley too and I've owned metric bikes in the past as well - some of those forums will bash Harleys but I think it's only a few short dk's that do - most others bikers are not so judgemental on the make.

I'll ride with anyone. I don't care if there on a Vespa. Everytime some A-hole starts bashing my ride I tell them this. "Theres only two types of people in the world, Those who ride a Harley and those who wish they did!"

Birds of a feather flock together, that is why i am on this forum. Will not even bother to go to others due to the bashing. Whats the purpose, they got theirs, we got ours. I always make it a point to compliment anyones bike that i meet on the road, metric or american.
Although my bud and I signed up for a free BMW test ride, never got the call to come test out the bike.
(Must have been the comment of the 160 H.P. bike and if it would Smoke off the back tire!)

People that bash Sportys have no idea how much fun they can be, I started on sportys in 1958 and never really quit rideing them untill 1971, even as late as last May I wanted to buy one again as my second Harley, but the wife said she would not be able to ride on it.. we are just a bit bigger now then we was 35 years ago

but as a solo bike, probably can't be beat, and I rode the old Iron heads, Hee Haw, viberating SOB that they was.

when somebody said something cute about any of my bikes, my triumph, or My bmw I just looked at them and laughed, as I would do today..Brand loalty is good, but not when your trying to hurt the other guys feelings, when you do that, your not worth spit..live and let live, let them ride what they want, all this brothers in the wind thing?? is it only brothers if you ride my brand or is it for all riders?? I guess each person has to decide for them selves, as for me, I truley don't care what you ride, Lot of Harley riders only do it for the image, not for the love of rideing..
