Thanks Dave! I'm so sure if I went back to the dealer today would be the day that I'm going to wait a few weeks.
Thats a real big bite to chew and I don't want to choke on the biggest motorcycle decision I've ever made.

not any more. used to be that way, but now the cvo are built on the same assembly line as the other bikes. don't remember exactly when they changed, but i think it's been in the last couple of years.

still a beautiful bike though. but i would have a very hard time justifying a bike that costs half as much as my house....

I was just going to point this out. CVOs are no longer made by a two man team. I always liked this idea of CVO exclusivity. However, HD's paint for all bikes now is absolutely amazing.

Many here think that once you purchase a CVO it will remain stock forever. Nothing could be further from the truth. I met a CVO owner up in Daytona a few days ago. He had his CVO customized with engine mods that made it a 131" then had a Super Charger installed on top of that. His CVO was dynoed at 230 HP!

I asked him If his fuel economy was hurt, he told me he gets about 30 MPG.
This rider must have over $60K in his CVO! I notice that he wears a gold & stainless Rolex Submariner which cost about $10K.

Some CVO owners have stated they won't own a motorcycle that cost less than their wrist watch. I can understand that.

I see Boss Hogs that have over $100K in customization. Even to me that's sick, however these owners are in a financial tier above mine presently. I can respect that.

I remember growing up in the '60s and seeing a motorcycle magazine's front cover showing its first ever $10K chopper! Riders back then said they'd never pay that much for two wheels, that it was insane. LOL

We have people in this forum living in $300 a month rentals, to living in a $3K trailer to owning a $20M + estate home. Some forum members are fortunate that they can make $40K or more on a good day.
What I'm saying, we as Harley owners are a very diverse group. There's something for everybody.

As for customizing a non CVO Harley to resemble a CVO, that isn't cost effective. At trade in time it's still a non CVO. A CVO by its Vin number will ALWAYS be a CVO. Of course anything thing spent above a stock CVO on customization of said CVO, won't bring much above a stock CVO at trade in.

It was (and still is) what drew me to the bike in the first place. If this one is gone I'm sure there are a few more yellow CVO's in dealerships across the country. I'd do a fly-n-buy and ride 'er home or consider a gently used yellow CVO from the private sector if this one sells that quickly.

Thanks for your input cptdenny. I'm squarely in that 'in between' position where I could buy a CVO but may not be in my best financial interests at this time.

They always gonna leave the door open on some accessories no matter what you buy.
That was the first thing that caught my eyes! WTF are they thinking? $40,000 and it isn't finished? Conventional thinking is that if you got it, get it - but - my thinking isn't so much.
