I've got the GoPro HD Hero 2 and it is awesome. If you get the motorsports edition it will be best for what you want to do. I have the LCD backpack and the Battery Backpack for accessories and they are awesome. The only thing I would say that you should get in addition to what comes in the motorsports package is the roll bar mount. Not sure what you ride, but it has got to be a Harley and the vibration is a PITA with the suction cup or any of the stick-on mounts. The roll bar mount is the only thing I have found (except for attaching it to my helmet) that doesn't transfer the vibration to the camera. Then again, if it is your wife doing it, she can either hold it or mount it to her helmet and you can get some awesome scenery and road video.
GoPro Hero2 Motorsports Package here as well. Though I have not tried the rollbar mount, I picked up the handlebar mount and a tripod mount. I'm using one of the stick'm mounts on the windshield then when riding without the windshild, I use the handlebar mount. The handlebar mount also fits on my passenger footpegs and on a crashbar.
