I'd say the number one complaint from cagers and the public in general is loud pipes. You don't lane split but you proudly proclaim "louder pipes save lives". My guess is your loud pipes probably offend more people than someone lane splitting. If we really want to irritate someone it would be lane splitting on a bike with loud pipes. Oh well, they'll get over it.

I found this. http://ohiomotorcyclegarage.com/blog...s-just-unsafe/
Apparently "lane splitting" is only legal in Cali.

The Interstate gets pretty hairy in the morning and the afternoon during the work week. I avoid it at all costs. The best time is after midnight when the traffic is light. Lane splitting is only for emergencies. As already stated, ride your own ride!

If it's legal then why not lane split if you are comfortable with it? No different then getting on the freeway and doing the posted speed limit if you are comfortable with it.

I split lanes up to 65-70 mph..Just up to what your comfortable with..I think in California things r alot different than other states..In real slow traffic I stay on my throttle with a thunderheader to let people know Im coming..Alot of people will have already moved over by the time I get up to them..You do get the idiot everyonce and a while thats line riding or texting those are the ones who get their side view mirrors punched....

If I cared what the cagers thought I would ride a BMW with a matching jumpsuit and helmet complete with reflective stripes

I guess I was wondering if anyone else out there does not lane split or is everyone do it?
The best way to get comfortable with lane sharing is to do it at stopped intersections wear you have enough room or stopped traffic on the freeways.

Lane split for sure, I think its safer to be between cars where I have room to move rather than be rear ended by someone not paying attention and getting sandwiched between two cars. But do whats comfortable for you. In a few weeks I am guessing you will be splitting lanes.

I do it depending on many things. For example, on freeway I don't do it too much if traffic is moving because it is too easy for someone to whip over in front of me. but sometimes I do and to hell with them. I don't do it in town if I know I won't have to sit through more than the current light.

Sometimes I am just not in a rush and don't feel like it. Sometimes I am in a rush and I'll lane split like a mad man.

Ultimately as with many things it is your bike, your day and your ride what I do or others do has no real impact do it your way.
