I'm not sure of the point of having a windshield and looking over it. If I need, I can straighten up and look over it, but what's the point? Catch insects in the eyes? Rain/fog is another story, so yeah, I'd look over it then, but normal use, I look through it and enjoy the ride (and also note the bug splats that would have been in my face).
if the shield is set right, none of that happens. The air, along with 99% of the bugs, is forced uo and over your face.

ya know it's that 1% that are those BIG mothers that come through that worry me , I bought a shield that is 4'' over stock and look through it , if need be I can look over , I put a piece of chrome edge trim around the outter edge and then in rain the rain blows up to that then off , it keeps the rain from rolling around to the inside of the shield , but sure hope I don't get a ticket for looking through it, some of these post make it sound like it is against the law , really it is all just a personal choise
My new seat forces me to look through it, and I hate it. There's too much distortion for me. I'm going to trim it down, next week.
Money well spent is buying a Clearview Shield. I bought one this weekend. They are reasonably priced windshields with Recurve. The recurve sends the wind over the top of your head. No buffeting. The windshield ends at or below your nose. I absolutely love my new Clearview Windshield. Check them out. You will not be disappointed!

I have never been so blind as to not be able to see through a shield. If the situation is that bad then pull over.
I have heard this crap for years, 45 years. Guess what, a tall shield is where it's at. If you can't see through a shield , how will you see with the crap in your eyes.
Sit tall if need be. Never understood the "logic". Just my opinion.
If I want to look through a windscreen I will drive any of my cages. Never had enough crap on my visor that I couldn't see through.
