Default another stupid oil question

Sooo. I change my oil, or have it changed, every 3k miles. But what about time? I'be only put 1k miles since last change, but was 6 months ago. Am going on a decent road trip soon, does the oil need changing again? Sorry for the rookie question. Thanks!

If my oil was clean but lets say 6 months has passed, I would consider the conditions that the bike sat in while it wasn't running. If I was concerned about moisture build up I would get it hot & dump it out. If that was not an issue, I would run it for 2000 miles the way it is!
Always best to swap out your oil before you put it to sleep in the winter because dirty oil has acids in it that will chew on your bearings where clean oil will not!
Hatch.

The bike must be ridden a minimum of 3k miles every 6 months or the insides of the engine will rust. No oil out there can prevent that. Stop neglecting your bike.

The official recommendation is at least once a year.

All manufactures and oil producers say change at one year.

My question is why change at 3K? HD says 5K. Mineral or syn is not worn out at 5K. 3K is a waste of money and a limited resource.

same here, I change motor and Pri. oils at 4500 to 5k, Tranny I do 1@ yr witch is usually less than 10k

where U store the bike makes a big diff. I am glad I have a garage that stays 60-65* in the winter with almost no moisture.
