I did that on purpose .lol I wanted to add another bike to the garage so I took the wife for a ride on my sportster . Took off my ohlins shocks put the stock shocks back on had the stock 2 up seat . After we came back from the ride she told me that was the most uncomfortable motorcycle ride she has ever been on , and if I wanted her to ride with me again I would have to get something different .
I told her OK , but I will not sell the sportster . So I added a Kawasaki to the garage and still have the sportster ( 54,000 still going strong )

Very well said, the sporty I looked at before my Dyna was cheap and that is why I was looking, but the Dyna was worth the extra money and something I will have for many years.

As most people have said go for a Dyna, I'm 6 ft and a around 200 lbs an had ideas of changing my Nightrain for a sportster 48 ( still can't believe I was thinking of doing that ) but 2 dealers at my local Harley dealership advised me to stick with the Train as they said with my height and build I'd look far to big on it, look like I was riding a mini bike, and with two up it would look worse.u

Thanks so much to everyone who responded to this thread. This is honestly way more help than I expected for a newbie right off the bat.
The fact of the sportster I'm looking at is it is my only chance to get into the Harley-Davidson spectrum of bikes, which I really want to do. If I don't nab this one tonight I'm most likely looking at getting a Honda shadow 1100 Sprint or something more along those lines. This sportster is at the absolute top of my price range. I am sold on getting the dyna if I can find an older one with more miles for around the same price but I haven't found it yet.

Default I Had

I had an 08 883 low with forwards and the 2-up Sundowner. PLENTY comfy with the wife and I. No bottoming out and lots of power. GO FOR IT!

There are those and plenty of them in the Evo forum who will tell you to go that route, you could try posting there and see what they say, they might be older bikes but they would probably be in your price range, and unlike Twiin Camms the engines are said to be near bullet proof, never had a problem with mine when I had it that's for sure, good luck whatever you buy and welcome to the wonderful of Harley.

I had a sporty for the same reasons he wants one - it allowed me to get my first Harley. Was it too small? Sure. But it was a Harley and I paid cash for it. About 18 months later, sold it for my Bob. I will always love tha sporty because she was my first. Sold it to a friend, so I still see her once and awhile.
