Don't be affraid of TBW, it's been on Porsche for years. I've got 60k miles on one never a problem... they'll all have it in the future! Big plus LESS CABLES!
Thinking in practical terms - TBW has been around for a while now on bikes, cars, airplanes and such. The only concern you should have would be in the event of an electro magnetic pulse (atomic bomb) and if that's the case - well -
Between my 08 EGS and 09 Ultra have almost 100K trouble Free Miles with TBW .. Don't know what else to say to convince anyone .. I still love my Carbed Evo .. but doesn't mean can't adapt to new features that most of time are an improvement ..
Not sure why you'd be concerned? Have it on my 08 SG and haven't had any problems with it. The lag that some people talk about, IMO would really only be an "issue" if you were counting hundredths of a seconds coming off the line in a drag race.
Nope no lag! Have owned this since it was new. Great throttle and by the way Even if something goes wrong (usually a aftermarket mod), It will still get you home. Limp mode works!
The TBW on my RoadKing drove me nuts with the freakin lag that Harley builds into them on purpose.... I want to be the one that determines when my bikes accelerate at wide open throttle, not some damn EPA noise compliant crap that doesn't let the butterfly fully open till the motor gets to the 3500 RPM range... total crap..... BUT the V&H Throttle Pack COMPLETELY eliminated that and made it feel and respond like my cabled bikes..... some people claim they can't notice it.... it's there.... they either just don't care or can't tell the difference...I will say the reliability of the unit has been fine..... YMMV

I absolutely WILL NOT own a TBW bike. The motor feels "disconnected" from the throttle, and the lag makes for some unpleasant riding, especially when you clutch away & almost stall the bike. I have ridden several at demo rides at Daytona & local demo rides, and immediately got on a cable bike afterwards, and the difference is astounding. Plus, I don't trust the reliability of TBW; hear too many horror stories. I have heard it can be tuned out, but I would hafta ride one to make a judgement. Presumably, they have it on the touring bikes to make acceleration smoother & so that every single bump in the road doesn't jar your throttle hand & make for a jerky ride. I'll take the jerky ride, thank you.
