Default Greedy asses

So I stopped in the new Illinois Harley Thursday,to check it out, support (home base) dealer.looked around, noticed no familiar faces.asked around, turns out not many if any followed to new site,ok whatever,I can get over that.iget it,you build relationships and they change.so wife is buying shirts and stuff, bout 250.00 worth of stuff.we go to check out and the teenie bopper tells me NO MORE DISCOUNTS! I read on here all the time this is goin on,but it catches you off guard when it hits you in the face.I know wats coming, you all will tell me to not shop there.I already know I won't,but this still sux.I've spent a lotta cash over the years and cash is hard to come by.thanx for listening.

The shop nearest me was having a open house with cheap hot dogs (just a weeny and bun). I was standing in line to pay for some items when the owner walmed up to the girls behind the counter and told them to make sure no one got more than one hotdog. I put the items on the counter and left. Now i ride past his place to get to his competition. So i understand.

While I partly agree with you, it is poor management to have those instructions giving bluntly in front of customers. Employees should be trained prior to the event including the response to the why questions. Simple polite explanation on the change of the discount policy would satisfy most. The 1 hotdog rule is stupid and is a marketing cost which could easily be calculated when projecting the ROI of the event prior to green lighting it.

Maybe the constant discounts are why the first dealer went out of business? It is getting tougher out there as Everyones expenses go up. I don't know the answer and don't think anyone does.

People still buy stuff at the dealers?

The aftermarket has better quality stuff at better prices....often with better customer service.

I stopped going into the dealer in the mid/late 90's and needed something for my shovelhead and they told me they don't have stuff for those pieces of ****. They had become boutiques no longer were they about motorcycles

Well this May 5th is their Grand opening. I'd be surprised if no discounts on that day! If you miss the old look/employees here an 2010 Promo video for ya. By the way my bike was bought from there back in 1986. Still has the dit-dot.

"Dealers gotta make money" I guess yur right, but with all the aftermarket stuff available, I have no need to pay double. That said, i'd be more apt to visit a HD dealer than a car dealer/stealer...
The HD dealers make out very well on New Bike Sales, Warranty service & OEM Parts.
I think they could take it easy on the little stuff like Tee's, wallets etc., that is just free advertising for them. IMHO

I always thought a discount was when you pay less than the regular price.
Sounds to me like the thread title should be changed to greedy *** visits new Harley dealer.
