Default plastic on the exhust

While riding around at Thunder Beach last week I got a plastic bag on my exhaust.I searched the forum for help removing it.Some say fine steel wool and easy off oven cleaner. Not real wild using the steel wool, even the 0000,have had bad luck in the past with it on chrome. The easy off sounds ok but do you put it on a cold or hot pipe? How long do you leave it on?Do you have to scrape it off or us a rag? Thanks for any help.

I put it on a cold pipe. The reason is because I covered everything else with a plastic drop cloth to keep the oven cleaner off the paint. I left it on overnite and sponged it off the next AM. It took ofd melted microfiber towel, no scraping, no scratches.

There are two different types of Easy Off. the riginal" that requires heat and the "New & Improved" type that doesn't. Take your pick.

I'd definitely steer clear of the steel wool too. I made that mistake on some other pipes. The oven cleaner works, it's just a slower process. I put it on cold and let it set like coop said.

I recently started using Goof Off that I picked up at walmart. The stuff works great on boot marks etc...it may work in your situation. Put it on a micro and dab, wipe and soak the area a little, then it'll wipe right off of cold pipes. Good luck!

+1 on Goof Off.
I use WD40 for a lot of stuff, but Goof Off is the real deal.
