I bought my g/f a Honda VTX Trike since she wants to get into riding for herself. I needed to replace the seat bolt that holds down the passenger seat. I could have bought it from MotorTrike direct, buy I REFUSE to pay their extreme price for this "thing". ($30) So.....I went to 3 Honda dealerships and they all looked at me like I was from Mars or something. I went to a Victory dealership to see if they had anything comparable and they first just looked at me dumbfounded. As I explained how much they (MotorTrike) wanted for the part and them being out of there mind!!!, one guy on the floor looks at me and says, "You should buy parts for a Harley!! They aren't cheap......" I looked at him and explained that I drove up on my Electra Glide and have bought MANY bolts from HD and paid a dollar or two at worst. At that I left and decided that I will NEVER shadow their door again. A couple weeks later, I stopped at HD of Huntsville (Alabama) and one of the guys behind the counter actually takes the time to look for something similar and/or cross-reference. He helped me find a very workable solution for a few dollars! This guy actually took the time **gasp** to talk to me and want to truely help me. I looked at my g/f as we left, smiled and said "and that's why I will shop HERE every chance I get and why I drive a Harley......."
The nut that holds my mirror on fell off while riding so I stopped in at the dealer to get another and they wanted $5....for a damn nut. Lowe's had it for 38 cents.
Should have been more independent and looked at lowes. You EXPECTED and HD dealer to help you for a HONDA part! Seriously man. That is like asking a caddy dealer to help you with a lexus part. Error was yours not theres.

HD dealers are sometimes the only place we can find a replacement part in the U.K ,
we are metric even though we invented imperial sizes ,
HD are no dearer than any other main dealer to be honest , i still get the occasional WTF moment , but quite often I'm pleasantly surprised , the parts guy at my local HD dealers in Essex England is a star , and takes time to help , so if i can i will support my local dealer ,
