H-D started some and still do today, my first superglide was a 1200, Sportster use to be 900 then 1000 and today 883 and 1200.

Know what? I'll bet that when you said, "It's an 88," of course meaning 88 cubic inches, he thought you meant it was a model from the year 1988. A lil' miscommunication there. Like most of the guys have already said, most metric riders talk in cubic centimeters (cc's). The SportsterEVO enginesare designated in cc's (883 and 1200), but if I remember right the twins have pretty much always been designated in cubic inches. Correct me if I'm wrong, folks.

1450 is the actual displacement in CCs but most people will refer to the 88s as 1500s... mostly just because that was the "class" they were in.

The Triumph Rocket III is a 3 cyclinder 2294cc and has been available for a few years.
