I have a '96 Dyna and while the fuel gauge works just fine, it's got a couple deep scratches on it that irritate the hell out of me. I picked up the fuel gauge from an '05 Softail over the weekend, will it fit? It's got three wires coming out the back. Not sure about the factory one on the tank now, as I can't seem to pull it up.
can't tell you about the fitment though, but you could go to ronnies hd and look up the part numbers for the softail and the dyna and see how they compare....
Back to your question...
It may fit but may not read correctly. I put on a flush mount (switched from skull) that I found out later is for a RK (I have a Crossbones). The fuel cap was taller than the tab in the tank was deep (ground off the lip on the cap so it fit). The remainiing miles indicator now reads 145 on a full tank instead of the 190 it used to read. I still get the 190+ but the computer thinks it is a RK. I also use the trip meter as a gas guage but the lights are a pretty blue and an easy reminder for when to start checking the trip........
