Buddy of mine and his girlfriend were cruising north on hwy 6 today in College Station when out of no where for no apparent reason the driver in front of them does a hard brake check. They slammed into the *** end of the sedan and she has minor road rash and bruises but he is in ICU. WTF is wrong with a person for the thought of doing something like that to even cross their mind? The Street Glide is trashed. She said she got the license plate number of the sedan. I feel sorry for that piece of **** because we all know that with a license plate you get an address and with an address someone is getting an *** stomping!!
So, let me get this straight: your buddy was tailgating, slammed into the back of a car that did a "brake check" and you want to stomp the cager's ***!? Sorry to be so blunt, but what are you thinking? How is this the cager's fault AT ALL?
The reason you're not sposed to follow too closely (in ANY vehicle) is so that you have time to react and avoid an accident in case the vehicle in front of you stops quickly. Your buddy didn't do that. What part of this do you not understand??
Sorry about your buddy, his girl and his bike, but IMO when you don't ride right, you're just another statistic waiting to happen.

Yes, you have a point. I am not to positive about the tailgate thing. He has always been a cautious rider. Wide open highway, not even near an exit and someone just locks up their brakes. His girlfriend just recently said this morning that she is sure that the woman just cut in front of them and locked the brakes. How that corresponds to the statements of the witnesses I do not know. I do know that I have rode with him many times and on stretches of highway where the speed limit is high he always follows at least a few hundred feet behind.

Well, if she cut in front of him & immediately locked 'em up, that's a different story. Otherwise, it's pretty black & white.
