First, I understand that some folks don't understand why someone would put a Harley in a trailer but for the rest of us:![Big Grin](https://www.hdforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Is anyone using the E-Track type hold down tie point rails on their trailer?
My question is how secure is the mounting of the E-Track to the floor compared to the normal D-Ring mounts? Do they bolt into the floor or are they just secured with screws? Looking to setup my trailer for some long hauls.
Thanks

E-track is the ticket...bolted thru the floor and some of the bolts go thru metal support and frame beams...best place to buy is at a trucking/trailer store like www.southwestwheel.com ...also get the straps there

I have both.
I have 2 runs of E-trackdown each ofthe side walls of my enclosed trailer to attach items to the sides.
D-rings in the floor to secure items to it.
E-Track is great on the floor to but is hard to clean debris out of it.

I had E-track welded down both sides and then powder coated with the frame, on the floor they ran steel full length between the cross members to screw into. It is only as good as what you secure it to.

I use two sets in my hauler. Yes it is harder to clean I use air to clean then vac. As for securing I used 1/4 bolts galvanzied. Instead of using large straps I use the short adapters they have the e track connector on one side then about a foot of strapping then a D ring. Then I attach normal racheet straps. Carry v-rod and road king long distance never had any problem. Using e tracks allows me to anchor any where I want unlike D rings which are anchored in one spot

We use E-Track in the back of our HMMWVs and if they're approved for cargo aircraft, you know they'll hold. We put about 5K lbs of cargo in the back of our HMMWVs and I've never seen on fail.

kpb46,
when I installed mine I tried to hit a frame rail with bolts every 12 inches or so. If I could not get a frame rail then I used long enough wood screws to go through my 3/4 inch flooring.
We made a 3000 mile trip this summer with 2 full dressers strapped to the E-Track and it was rock solid for the whole trip. We also used Condor wheel chocks.
