...I have an 08 Fat Bob in some serious need of new rubber! And I just got an invite for a road trip to Virgilina(leaving Satutday a.m.)which is 6hrs each way! I dont have time to order new, het them, and mounted in time.
SO, I went to an Indy. shop and they have a set off a 09 F.B. that the front is perfect and the back had a nail that he patched up nicely! They only have about 1000mls on them and he'll take $90 for the set which will get me on the road trip!!...
Man, think about this. You failed to mention that you can't afford to replace your worn-out tires w/ brand new tires, otherwise why would anyone risk their life (and passenger) on someone else's patched tires?
And somehow, though you can't afford proper tires, you can afford to pay for a road trip? Com'on. You surely must know better than this.
Patched with a plug from the outside, good enough to get you to civilization. Glued and patched with a rubber plug from the inside, I'd say ride it till the tread wears out. If really concerned with it, throw a tube in and go.
Not that I dont have the cash to buy brand new tires, its time I don't have! I plan to upgrade to a 200mm & was looking for a cheaper way to go on a trip that was thrown at me yesterday!! Only need the back, which is the patched one for 50 buck!! That's it!!

Where did the op say he couldn't afford it?? Get off your high horse lol
I would not ride on a patched tire. On a car the patches are fine as long as the puncture is on the flat part; however, if the puncture is even near the curved side mechanics won't even plug it. Motorcycle tires obviously don't have a flat section.
