First of all I'm new to the forum from Va. Beach, Va. so take it easy on a newbie....F it...throw me to the wolves!! I have an 08 Fat Bob in some serious need of new rubber! And I just got an invite for a road trip to Virgilina(leaving Satutday a.m.)which is 6hrs each way! I dont have time to order new, het them, and mounted in time.
SO, I went to an Indy. shop and they have a set off a 09 F.B. that the front is perfect and the back had a nail that he patched up nicely! They only have about 1000mls on them and he'll take $90 for the set which will get me on the road trip!!
So after writing this book I need some opinions if it is safe to ride a patch plugged tire?? Thanx
I know so far as cars are concerned your good to go but being new to the ridin' scene myself I cant say which way to go on that one my friend. I'm curious to hear from the vets here myself on this matter. Good question.
tire shops I know wont patch a tire, but thats here in the law suit capitol of america. nobodys got a tire for that bike?
theres a reason the previous owner got rid of the tire
I bought a used bike and was unaware that the previous owner had the rear tire "plugged".
It "popped out" with me and the wife riding it and we went down.
If we had been moving fast or in traffic, it could have been a tragedy.
Since then, I plugged one tire (just to get me home ) and then replaced the tire.
IF, you do use this tire, ride in back of the pack.
Don't risk taking anyone else down with you.

Run a tube in it and go , that's a no brainer . DUH
It wouldn't worry me a bit. Keep a check on the pressure and your knees on the breeze.
I ran a plugged tire for 9,000 miles so what do I know though...
Some on here will tell you it is sure death. Do what you are comfortable with.
