Default Gear Driven Cams

Does anyone know how they achieve the proper timing on the cams since the rotation is changed when changing from the chain drive to the gears. You can get just the gears without the cams, but since the rotation is changed from both the same (with the chain) to opposite each other ( with the gears) how is the timing not affected? Any ideas to help my troulbled mind would be greatly appreciated.

here's one of the best write ups I've ever seen on doing cams.

Just read through it and It will show and tell U how to set up the timing marks.

The cams you'll choose (even if purchased separately,) are for gear drive applications and they're 'keyed' to time correctly.

( You can't use gears on chain drive cams.)

Thanks Oct1949, but that post is for using a chain drive, which turns both cams in the same direction, using gears causes them to turn in opposite directions. This was my concern, how can these companies like S&S or Andrews sell just the gear sets. In my mind the front cam will turn "backwards" with a gear drive set up changing when the valves open and close.
