Came within about 50 ft. of being hit a few years back as we were riding across TX. We were close enough that I could hear the air sizzle and milliseconds later Kaboooom! It about blew our eardrums out. We immediately pulled over to see if there was any damage, or if either one of us had been hit. It was a close one. I've been hit in a vehicle twice. That's pretty scary.

I was at an outdoor concert about 10 years ago. Hair literally stood up on my head, heard the crack, and it hit the stage. No bands were playing at the time. I said fuggit and went home.

Yes, I have seen legitimate news reports of a rider being hit, it was fatal, unlike a vehicle, a bike offers no protection from the strike, if the strike doesn't kill ya, the crash may.

: A boy from Rantau Panjang was rushed to hospital after being hit by lightning while riding his motorcycle in a heavy downpour.
The 17-year-olds left shoulder and left arm were charred.
The incident occurred at Taman Indah at 2pm on Sunday when the boy went out on his bike to look for friends.
In the heavy rain and stormy conditions, a lightning flashed and struck the boy and his motorcycle.
Though badly injured, he managed to ride home.
His mother was shocked to see his son lying on the ground outside the house in pain. She rang the Civil Defence Department to send his son to hospital.

Lightning is scary sh#t, that guy took a direct hit and lived, last week in Ottawa, lightning struck a tree near a kid putting on a rain-suit, and he died.
;The teenager, who would have celebrated his 19th birthday next week, was riding his bike through an Ottawa park with his girlfriend on Friday evening, but stopped for shelter under a tree when it started to rain.
Lightning hit the tree, and it hit him, said his grandmother, Huguette Gauthier. His heart stopped.
A passerby called for help and carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation; Joel was transported to a hospital by paramedics where he died a few hours later.
