Default New Sportster 72 or used Dyna

I got some extra cash so I want to buy a second bike as an around town cruiser. My other bike for the long hauls is a RKC. I was at the dealership and was taken in by a skinny red head, a new red metal flake sportster 72 which brought back memories of my mispent youth. She costs $11,200. the problem is, I was doing some research last night and came across a used 2010 Dyna Wide Glide with 8,000 miles on it for $10,000, NADA book is about $13,500. She needs new tires and a good service but that is about it. I would have to spend about $1,500 to customize it the way I like it to look whereas the Sportster would only need a seat.

So, my pocket book is telling me to buy the used Dyna since someone else has taken the big depreciation hit and the Dyna is agrueably a better bike. But the skinny new red head 72 keeps winking at me, plus my dad always told me to be careful of buying used cause you are buying someone elses problems.

Please, tell me what you would do, your advice is appreciated.

WG, you will tire of the little sporty no matter how pretty it is.

vrod, fun to ride and not the greatest for cargo. some say not the great for road trips, i don't say that but ridability is in the butt of the pance i guess.

For a good ripper around town I would choose the sporty. The WG is still a bigger bike, I think you won't find it any easier/more fun to ride around town than the RKC.

For around town, definitely the sporty. I wish I would have kept my sporty for around town when I bought my lowrider

The Sporty...hands down.
It was built for exactly what you want to do, bar hopper, around town rider, fun ripping through the night, and waiting for you at the crack of dawn.

You have the RKC for your long rides. It's the comfortable heavy cruiser that you can pack everything you need for a long trip out.

The Dyna would be redundant to the RKC, even though it is essentially a completely differant bike. It is still a heavy cruiser (though with a heart of a performance machine) and honestly you will have to deal with the old duck walk in a parking spot, that heavy steel pull every time you pull into a drive way or a parking place, the larger profile for when you have to squeeze it onto a sidewalk or next to another bike at the meter.

If you only had to choose between the Dyna and the Sporty and it was your ONLY ride...the Dyna. Since you have the RKC, get the Sporty, no question about it in my mind.

If it was an only bike, I'd go with the used dyna, but since you already have a long distance bike, the Sporty will be much handier and more fun around town. I'd like to have mine back to ride to work, instead of my Softail.

Sportster 72, it's beautiful and if I had the money it's the one I'd get
